Best of Emmy's Red Carpet - The Angels

The most talented actresses of the small screen were celebrated at the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.  The hottest trend on the red carpet? Bright glittering angels in platinum and white.

As a curvy girl myself, I love seeing gowns that sculpt and highlight great curves in an unusual way.  Kate Mara's J. Mendel gown had multi-directional shirring along with shaped, semi-sheer layers to reveal the leg in a soft way.  Also loved the chunky beading on the top.  Sofia Vergara's hourglass figure is always epic on the red carpet.  Roberto Cavalli's gown not only hugged her body, but the silver embroidered lines traced each sexy shape even more.  Danielle Brooks of Orange is the New Black wore a Nathaniel Paul gown with a great circle lace bodice.  It contrasted beautifully against her skin.  The asymmetrical skirt with high leg slit was incredibly flattering.

I loved these shimmering dresses.  Amy Poehler was stunning in THEIA's silver beaded gown.  Hayden Pannetiere made every Mom I know jealous in a starburst embroidered gown by Lorena Sarbu.  Taylor Schilling's halter gown had beautiful beaded lines by Zuhair Murad.

Lucy Liu's gown from Zac Posen pulled shirring details in several directions to frame her body.  Julianna Hough's strapless dress was a contemporary take on the retro big bow dress by DSquared.  Dascha Polanco was in full diva mode in a ballgown by Johanna Johnson.

Embellished Emmy 2012 Fashion

Television's finest came out to be awarded for their work at the Emmy Awards last night.  Winning accolades for Emmy fashion is as important (if not more) for many of the stars walking the red carpet.

As always, as an embroidery designer, I am choosing my favorites for their use of embellishment...

Ginnifer Goodwin was a stunner in a dimensional tangerine embellished gown from Monique Lhuillier (who I love for her embroideries, including the ones she used of mine of course).  Shannon Marie Woodward, of Raising Hope looked elegant in a gold beaded bodice gown from Gabriela Candela.

Blue was clearly a favorite last night.  Sofia Vergara was sexy as hell in Zuhair Murad, who knows how to bead in patterns that really bring out the assets of the va-va-voom ladies.  Sarah Paulson wore a beautifully embroidered gown by Reem Acra.  Nicole Kidman surprised some fashion police wearing a fashion forward angel wing embroidered column by Antonio Berardi.

Hayden Panettiere was every bit the diva in an embroidered Marchesa gown overlaid with transparent. Lucy Liu was a sexy gladiator in a heavy mirrored Versace gown and Veep's Anna Chlumsky was gorgeous in a beaded lace dress by Christian Siriano.

Emmys Red Carpet Embroidery

The Emmys Red carpet reports are all over the internet. Polls for if they were hot or not, best bag, best shoes, best boobs, etc.   As a couture embroidery designer, my quickie report will report on just that.  My top 3 gowns where I liked the embroidery.  That's it.  So here they are:
Anna Paquin's Alexander McQueen polarized fashion enthusiasts, but I loved the antiqued metal paillettes and beads.  The overlapping embroidery mixed with beads created a sculpted effect that reminded me of Egyptian royalty or ancient armor.

Modern Family was the surprise upset winner for Best Comedy series.  Sophia Vergara was every bit the victor in this dazzling Carolina Herrera gown.  The embroidery was a mix of different sized sequins emanating from the center front.  The center front of the gown was encrusted with gold beads.

Emily Blunt was stunning in this Christian Dior gown.  The layers of chiffon flowed like a dream.  The asymmetrical embroidery was done by hand in a strategic, artistic layout.  It was a combination of beads, sequins and fabric appliqué that gave the effect of falling shells and pearls.
