Platinum and diamonds was the clear red carpet winner at the Academy Awards. The best Oscar dresses where in shades of nude, crystal and white. As always, Ms. Fabulous chooses the best use of beading and embroidery on the red carpet.
Jessica Biel looked stunning in Chanel. The fitted dress was embroidered in sequins in of different shapes to reflect a pattern, then topped with shredded chiffon at the bust. Angelina Jolie looked like a Goddess in her beaded Elie Saab. She bravely showed off her post-surgery chest with barely there, gradated lines of crystal and metallic beads.
Oscar winner Cate Blanchett was a vision in an amazing Giorgio Armani. The highly dimensional embroidery was a mix of organza petals, metallic pailettes, dripping beads and Swarovski crystal. Kristen Bell's dramatic gown was by Roberto Cavalli. The bodice was a highly textured layered applique lace accented with beads.
I know the Academy Awards are supposed to be a celebration of talent. Can I help it when these ladies kill it with a fantastic Oscars red carpet show?

What makes a great fragrance? I would say 99% of its success is the people behind it. Fashion designer Roberto Cavalli is known for sexy, bold collections. Any perfume from him would have to reflect that. The face of that fragrance would also have to be hot, sexy and young. They found that person in Georgia May Jagger (daughter of Mick). Between her mother’s genes and father’s rock stardom legacy, I think she already brings the right “air” to the brand just by walking into a room. The packaging is a blend of gold, pink and snakeskin, which perfectly represents the colors and pattern I think of when I envision Cavalli boutiques. The designer wanted this perfume to be "gritty" and "sexy". The promo video they made seems to express that quite well...
The most famous fragrances in the world likely have two people in common. The rock stars of perfume, Nathalie Lorson and Fabrice Pellegrin . It’s likely that you have not heard of them, but they are known as master “noses” of the industry. The duo put together the magic potion that sits in the bottle. Think of them as wizard-like chemists hired to create the perfect blend of aromas and smells that epitomize a designer’s brand, a lifestyle or an emotion.
Do you think that is too much hype for a perfume? Studies have shown people have the greatest connection to memories through their nose. I once sat in on a seminar about fragrance where I learned that in North America, adults won’t buy perfumes with talcum powder as a major note due to subconscious associations with babies, where in Europe the same problem exists for the scent of orange flower water. The “noses” of the business take this and many other hints psychological, cultural and natural details into consideration.
How about the scent of Just Cavalli for Her itself? Funny how much of the marketing of fragrances lacks the ability to let you experience the product itself. With the internet, you have sound and vision, but no olfactory reach. Just Cavalli for her is described as creamy, fruity and floral. More specifically, this means the perfume has notes of the tiare flower which has vanilla properties and neroli, a bitter orange flower. Additionally, different websites describe it as having scents of water lily, bergamot, apricot blossoms, coffee beans, musk and tobacco
Is it me? Or does that sound of yummy, like my favorite tea? Now, if you can create an additional perfume that smells of scones, I will be a happy woman.
