Upgrade Your Laundry With Tide Pods

This site reports on tons of fashion. I realized I never addressed the care of such fashion. I was introduced to Tide PODs with Febreze back in NY Fashion Week last February. The squishy little pouches were cute to look at but the pods seemed like a novelty to use.

I won’t lie, I hate laundry. As a Manhattanite, I don’t have a washer and dryer directly in my apartment and have to use commercial machines. Anything that makes this process easier is fabulous in my book. The pods are a 4-in-1 combo of detergent, softener, fabric freshener and agent to brighten colors. I have a cat and don’t do laundry nearly as much as most people should. Popping in the little pods into the machine with my clothes without worrying about multiple bottles, boxes and measuring does streamline the process.

I have sensitive skin, prone to allergies, so I was worried about a switch to a product with scent. I am happy to say that I felt absolutely no irritation from my laundered clothes. It was also a bonus that everything smelled fresh. While the advertising says the scent lasts 24 hours, I found that my linens and towels maintained the lovely notes for over a week in my closet.

As a fashion industry vet, I wash more clothes in the machine than recommended. Clothing labels err on the side of caution and asking customers to dry clean everything is just easier from a legal standpoint. While silk crepe and charmeuse tend to shrink after the wash (which is fine for my nightgowns), I wouldn’t bother with fitted blouses. Knits and even cashmere can be washed in the machines, just make sure you use cold water and lay them flat to drive (do NOT put them in the dryer). For cotton knits, many are treated to a silicone wash at retail to pop the colors, so no matter what, they will fade. Your best bet is always to turn any intense color or dark colored clothing inside out.

Between running around from show to show next week, Tide PODS with Febreze will be my MVP for NYFW. Save your clothes save the world. Follow them on Tide Facebook for discounts, coupons, tips.

Thierry Mugler's Stars, Angels & The Source

perfume fountain
star shaped bottle
It was a star-filled night. Thierry Mugler unveiled The Source at Tuesday’s InStyle Magazine summer social. It was an impressive space-age looking fountain dispensing the company’s top fragrances.

When Thierry Mugler’s Angel perfume debuted, it was the must-have fragrance that every one of my fashion school friends and I had to have. The fashion designer was already a constant source of inspiration to us in our design sketches.  We were in love with the innovative star-shaped cut glass bottle that was so innovative at the time. It is still one of my favorite bottle designs.

In the 1990’s, it seemed to be a decade of “clean” fragrances and androgyny. There were a lot of watery scents that were chic for its time, but not sexy. Then Angel came along. It was described as the first “gourmand” fragrance. This was a term in the beauty industry that would become very important as countless brands followed Mugler’s lead in the years to come. The “gourmand” aspect of this perfume referred to the notes of vanilla, caramel, berries and bergamot. These were aromas associated with food rather than things like flowers. The perfumers figured out these flavors were already aphrodisiacs in food, why not the body?

At the summer social, representatives treated guests to mini versions of the Alien and Angel perfumes filled from the fountain. The futuristic look of the bottle and fountain takes its inspiration from 18th Century luxuries. Wealthy aristocrats would collect intricately carved crystal bottles filled with their favorite scent. Marie Antoinette even indulged in her personal perfume fountain. Now super-fans of Thierry Mugler can enjoy a version of that by refilling their bottles at The Source fountain. It’s an eco-friendly way to prolong your time with your favorite bottle.

Reach for the stars and you might find your Angel.

Instyle Magazine's Summer Social

single edition media
gardein review
After a hot, humid summer, the InStyle magazine brought together bloggers for an influencer event of treats and pampering. How nice is it to cool down with stylish peeps you haven’t seen in ages? The party had everything that a heat-exhausted lifestyle writer could need to refresh.

The summer social was hosted at 404 NYC, a loft-like event space west of Moynihan Station where the new NYFW shows will take place. The main floor hosted a range of cool white wines that I (and clearly everyone else) sampled from Brancott Estate. It was no surprise they were a hit. The Estate also provided sparkling bling for bloggers to enhance their phones.

essie nail polish

Essie nail polish, one of my favorite brands, introduce their new color palette for fall by providing manicures. I particularly liked the copper shade to match the foliage. Next to Essie was a small fashion presentation by Peony, a stylish new athleisure collection. They rocked some easy, flattering tops paired with graphic prints. I like the comfortable but fashion forward look of this collection. I can imagine it being the go-to label soon for every fashionista I know every weekend.

The second-floor lounge was for spa and nibbles. You could get your spray tan on from Sally Hansen or massage from the Think Thin team.  The main attraction, however, was the nibbles from Gardein. I had the opportunity to sample their fall and winter menu at the Single Edition Media blogger event last year. I was happily enjoying their fish and chips and mini-tacos before ever realizing they were vegetarian. I sampled their “chicken” satay and crab cakes this time around. I can honestly say that I was fooled again. I don’t know what kind of chefs or wizards transform the combo of soy and quinoa into these tasty bites, but it works. I am going to try and hunt some down for my party tomorrow night.

The top floor was for hair. The styling gurus from Jose Eber were on hand to consult on your next great look or assess your scalp condition. The handsome team was also on hand to dole out samples of their top products. Meanwhile, the stylists of Sarah Potempa had a station to curl and style the guests to glam perfection. The complex hair creations were quicker than I expected, aided by their signature range of curling irons and tools.

At the end of the summer, the Single Edition Media and InStyle Magazine Summer Social was exactly what was needed! Now onward to fall.

Summer Serenity with Gold Toe Ultra Soft, Oh. So. Soft.

Tracking Pixel
Tracking Pixel

I am frazzled and desperately trying to get everything ready for my trip to South Beach for Miami Swim week.
I spent too many days and hours in heels, and now my feet are hurting for it. The opportunity to work on a sponsored campaign and try their gift of Gold Toe Ultra Soft, Oh. So. Soft socks was a welcome one!

I can honestly feel relief the last two days when I have put on these surprisingly soft socks. This new collection is accurately named. The Ultra Soft, Oh. So. Soft socks have a brushed, silky, cozy finish that is such nicer than any other socks I currently have. I wear them instead of slippers (because slippers and I just don't get along). My lovey-dovey cat likes touching them and snuggling my feet when I wear them. It is cute unless you are in a rush to go somewhere. You can't move very fast with a furry animal clinging to your ankle.

These are going to be my MVPs on the plane tomorrow. I love cozy, fuzzy socks to combat the aggressive air conditioning of the airlines. A fresh pair also lets me curl up into the seat.

Gold Toe is a hosiery classic. Both my Dad and my  Hubby will testify that I have been "stealing" their Gold Toe socks for years. I like to think of it as borrowing and warming them up. This is before I started buying them for myself. Now I can flaunt my ultra soft treasures in front if them. Because they are sized and styled for me, I have no fear they will return the sock-napping favor.

I was afraid that they would lose their soft texture once the socks went through the laundry, but thankfully, they are as cloud-like as ever. The Gold Toe Ultra Soft, Oh. So. Soft will be my go-to brand going forward whenever I need my feet to feel warm or pampered!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gold Toe.

Spring Trends with Max Studio's $1000 Online Shopping Spree!

max studio spring 2015

Are you ready for some spring fashion and spring shopping? Leon Max is helping you out with a $1000 gift card giveaway to nab the latest spring trends for your closet. I have been a longtime fan of Max Studio’s Euro-chic style and fashion forward fabrications.

Inspired by 2015’s Color of the Year Marsala, I have already picked out some of the spring and summer Max Studio pieces I will be buying if I win this contest. I love all the spice colors of the cotton rayon cap sleeve sweater dress. The leather moto jacket has a feminine update and great for layering on top of dresses in cooler weather. I love a bohemian hat and paparazzi-repelling sunglasses. Those slashed leather stilettos? How HOT are those?

Of course, I am not the only shopper of Leon Max’s fashion collection. Zooey Deschanel and Olivia Wilde also count themselves as fans. I particularly love the body hugging knits and beaded details on the evening pieces. The Hollywood set I’m sure is lounging around in their floating maxi dresses.
The jet-setting look of the Max Studio fashion collection is so comprehensive because their design team spans Los Angeles, New York, and London. If you look closely at the styles, you can almost pick out exactly where each look was designed.

I also like their collections because I find that the styles are really well priced for the quality and construction of each style. I don’t always splurge, but I have Max Studio dresses from fifteen years ago that I still love.

Whether you are shopping on your own or letting Leon Max treat you, stay up to date on the latest new on the brand from the Max Studio Facebook page. Don’t forget to enter their $1000 gift card giveaway right on their site! You just need to enter your e-mail before Friday, March 27th, 2015.

Academy Award Party Tips with M&MS

It’s the Academy Awards again! Admit it, how many of you think the real winners are on the red carpet instead of picking up the statue? I have been hosting Oscar parties the last few years now. The best events have lots of treats and a lot of styles. An easy treat to celebrate American cinema is the classic candy of M&M’S. I use them to bring color and texture to desserts. You can totally pair them with your outfit or movie theme.

If you are walking your own red carpet, make sure to wear a color that flatters you. If you can’t do a custom gown, the key to making a dress look expensive is one that fits you well. One of my all-time favorite looks was Viola Davis at the 2012 Academy Awards wearing a custom green Vera Wang gown. This dress looked so great on her because it worked with her skin tone and the bodice highlighted her face. Just for fun, I re-interpreted this look with the famous Green M&M’S.

I also made boozy chocolate cupcakes. I used chocolate liqueur, which gives the cake a moist texture and chocolate buttercream. I topped it with a crispy M&M to match Viola’s dress. Have fun with the recipe:

Chocolate Liqueur Cupcakes: (Makes 12)

3 oz.  High-quality dark chocolate chopped into small pieces
1/3 cup Dutch processed cocoa powder
3/4 cup brewed espresso
3/4 cup bread flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons butter
2 eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons Chocolate Liqueur
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake tin with the paper cup liners (I like the foil ones for glam events).
Pour hot espresso over a large bowl of the chopped chocolate and cocoa powder. Whisk until smooth. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
In a separate bowl, whisk together your flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Set aside the bowl.
Whisk the oil, eggs, vinegar and vanilla into the cooled chocolate until the mixture looks smooth. Add the flour mixture and whisk until smooth.
Divide the batter evenly into the cupcake tins. Bake for approximately 17-19 minutes, until just firm to the touch. Cool on rack for 10 minutes, and then remove cupcakes from pan to cool completely.

Chocolate Liqueur Buttercream

1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
1 to 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 to 3 tablespoons Chocolate Liqueur

Cream the butter with an electric mixer. Add 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar and cocoa powder. Mix until combined. Add chocolate liqueur. Mix at high speed until light and fluffy, adding more sugar and/or liqueur until desired consistency is reached. Add your buttercream to a piping bag (I like to add a star tip) and frost.

Top with a crispy M&M for crunch!

To make your guests feel like VIPs, make sure you have good lighting. An inexpensive flood light in a flattering hue or even lots of tea lights can make that happen. If you have a screen (or sheet) you can project the Academy Awards onto, it looks very impressive.

If  you need more tips for impressing on the red carpet, these little guys can help you out. What are your favorite tips for hosting an Oscars party?

Surfing Style – Reef Sandals

Are we sufficiently chilled this winter? My thoughts increasingly run towards tropical climates and sexy surfers on the beach. Reef founders, the brothers Fernando and Santiago Aguerre felt the same 30 years ago and built a company around their shared passion for surfing. The happy ending is the stylish collection of Reef Sandals beloved by surfers around the world.

I first noticed Reef sandals when I tripped over my own cheap flip flops during a Hawaiian vacation. I was then distracted by hunky kite surfers on the quiet Maui beach where they did their thing. These guys would not stand for inferior footwear. The surfers I watched needed shoes that gave real arch support and had real rubber soles for outdoor wear. Reef’s Canisteo sandal had both of these qualities and had a rugged leather fabrication. For more eco-minded guys, the Phantom Player shoe had a sportier look and made with lightweight foam with eco logic compounds for enhanced
biodegradability. I like to fantasize these guys stroll off the beach and into town for some fun. The style quotient of these sandals makes them date-worthy.

For myself, I want beach-worthy shoes, but the fashionistas in me misses my heels. Reef’s Krystal Star sandals takes care of both. They have their signature EVA footbed for comfort. The outsole is embossed for traction. I love the sparkly strap that makes it just a bit dressier. For ladies more practical than me, you will be fans of the GypsyLove. This shoe has a cushy suede overlay on top of the anatomical arch support. The straps are lined in terry cloth and the soles are embossed rubber for traction. It also doesn’t hurt that the Gypsy loves are cute.

Reef builds its credibility with brand ambassadors all over the world. These guys are hardcore surfers with exotic lifestyles to match. I like seeing true athletes rather just another pretty face. Whether you are planning a winter getaway or preparing ahead for summer, make sure your beach shoes look good AND feel good! Reef Sandals will be there to take care of your surfer guy and your surf chic wherever that beach may be.

True Religion Finds the Sexiest Jeans For Your Body

skinny jeans women

The goal of your favorite pair of jeans should always be comfort. However, let us be realistic, your top priority before considering comfort is how great they make your ass look isn't it? To find the sexiest jeans for your body, you need to understand denim and  get to know yourself.

Are you curvy? Booty blessed? Are you straight and narrow? Do you have a strong presence all over? Do you have a long rise? Short rise? Do you have no idea what that means? Take a look at your body shape. Do your hips curve out noticeably from your waist? How about towards the back? What is the distance between your waist and crotch? Understanding your own body goes a long way in finding the perfect women's jeans to flatter it.

First, consider the fit. If you have a bit of a muffin top, a mid-rise jean would be more forgiving than a low rise jean. If you have a flat stomach and curvy hips, a low rise can show off that hourglass shape nicely. The shape of the leg should enhance the shape of your own. Bootcut jeans are great for showing off curves and accommodating hot boots. Skinny jeans for women are wonderful to exhibit a long pair of stems. If you are a casual gal, True Religion’s Brianna Boyfriend jean is a relaxed fit that is roomy through the leg if you want extra comfort or to show off a fit upper body.

Second, the fabric matters! If you have curves, a little bit of Spandex or elastine in the mix can really mold the jeans to where it counts. For more structure, look for high quality cotton in a comfortable denim weight.

Finally, what really makes your jeans your own is the finish. Dark washes like True Religion’s Hand Picked dark dye can be slimming. Layered dying processes can give subtle highlight to areas you want to flaunt like this Julie Low Rise Skinny Jean.

Now that you have the formula, it is time to find your sexiest jeans ever. Remember, fit, fabric and finish and you’ll never have a sloppy denim day again!

They have a huge selection of winter accessories, jewelry, boots, mittens; you name it at whatever price level you need.

Gift Guide Pick: Elizabeth Arden UNTOLD Perfume and Lipstick

The hottest trends to come out of the fall/winter runways were unmistakably red and gold. They also happen to be the colors of the holiday season and the brand that embodies that is undoubtedly Elizabeth Arden.

That shiny gold case and bright red lip symbolized the classic look of glamour to me since I first opened up a fashion magazine as a child. Now, the ruby lip is as hot as ever. I admit I was a little shy to try the bold shade of Red Door Red for daytime. Elizabeth Arden’s global artist Rebecca Restrepo created a collection of lipstihues to flatter all skin tones and fashion colors. I learned that the key to a strong, pigment intensive shade is to make sure your lips are well moisturized. This particular collection is filled with shea butter and vitamins A, C and E to pamper your lips.
lipstick colors

I don’t know what it is about pulling open a new lipstick box and turning the tube that got me excited when I first explored makeup, but that joy never left. I already gave my Mom some early stocking stuffers with a few shades that she loved; my girlfriends might too.

My best BFFs will get to try a new fragrance. A great perfume in a glass sculpture is another no-brainer gift for your favorite beauty fans. Elizabeth Arden’s UNTOLD was launched this year. The fragrance is presented in a frosted faceted bottle, like a jewel. It is framed in silver then topped with a crystal clear stopper. The scent itself has what the industry calls “gourmand” notes of pear, black currant and pink pepper along with floral gardenia. I tested it out; it was kind of sexy, romantic, but not overpowering.

Are you ready for a party to give a bright red kiss?  Do you want to unwrap a seductive new scent? Find your goodies at the Elizabeth Arden makeup counter this holiday.

Holiday Party Secret Weapon: Jergens

The holiday season is about to rear its sparkly head. You are already lining up your party schedule and wardrobe. Before you even dress up, you need to make sure you look good underneath. Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream is a new find for me just in time for the winter assault on my skin.

While BB cream for the face has been the biggest upgrade to my beauty routine, BB Body cream takes it one step further.  Don’t think of it as body makeup.  Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream works as an intense moisturizer that hydrates the skin.  Unlike makeup, it doesn’t just mask imperfections; the ingredients help even skin tone over a period of five days.

In the winter, my skin really takes a beating. Between periods of hives, dryness and sometimes urticaria, I am quite self-conscious about any kind of skin-bearing party outfit during the holiday season.  Makeup rubs off on delicate fabrics and can clog pores to make it worse.  A BB cream that works to firm and improve the texture of my skin the way the best products can for my face was a great discovery right before the first soirees of the season.

Now I’m not saying you should go and live a strictly hedonistic lifestyle… Hydrate and rest for your insides or whatever you do for the outside skin won’t stand a chance.

You can find Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream pretty much anywhere like your local Target or CVS store.  You can like Jergens on Facebook for news and promotions.

Make Your Shoppable Wish List with Tagspire

You can’t get away from the décor and shopping goodies for the holidays. You want to collect and share them all, but how about a tool to make it easy? I discovered Tagspire, a great site for tagging your photos and make them shoppable.

For my collage above, I put together a few of my favorite finds from the holiday collections on the runway.  I loved the party vibe from Betsey Johnson’s fall winter 2014 collection. A tight red dress, faux fur jacket and dancing tights? I’m in. I am totally in love with elaborate Dannijo statement necklaces. I am a longtime fan Rebecca Minkoff bags for myself or as gifts for my girls. However, in the spirit of show, not tell, I just tagged them so you could just click on the photos and go straight to the shop and I could have saved myself the time of writing out this paragraph. If you want to see more photos of that great Betsey Johnson runway, you can also click the photo and see my video of it.

This is a great tool for all of my fellow bloggers for augmenting their posts with links or monetizing their gift guides. These are also great for sending your wish list to your admirers. Do you use social media as a visual diary of your wardrobe? Great. You could make money with every selfie.
For social sharing, you can tag personal photos of your family and friends with additional videos or links to celebrate a special occasion. I am also planning on using Tagspire to enhance photos of my own design work or use it as a selling tool in presentations.

Are you ready to start Tagspire-ing? You can start upgrading your photos with this Tagspire video.  Then start choosing your best looking pictures. If you are in my circle of friends, get ready for my tricked out wish lists!

Winterizing Your Wardrobe

Every year the cold weather seems to sneak up on me. It starts with needing longer sleeves and before I know it I'm wearing the first thing I can find that will prevent me from getting hypothermia. This usually ends up being something out of style or very unflattering.

Although it may have taken me longer to figure out than it should have, I finally seem to have come up with a few staple pieces to keep in my closet that will keep me warm and stylish this season—and many years to come.

A Coat That You Can't Buy at a Sporting Store

It might be the most obvious necessity on this list, but it's still worth noting for those that have yet to head the advice. Believe or not there will come a time where you can't pair everything with a North Face fleece. Even if you're a student and haven't entered the workforce yet, everyone needs a nice, neutral-colored coat for more formal occasions.

A fitted pea coat can positively accentuate every frame. By choosing a neutral color and tone, you can pair the coat with almost any winter outfit. In most cases, a short coat will look better with jeans, while a longer coat tends to be more universal. If you opt for the longer variety, Styled 24/7 suggests one with a belt or tie around the waist that can help give you a more defined hourglass figure.

A Classic A-line Mini Skirt

It might seem trendy for this winter, but if you choose an understated color or pattern, this style is one that you can wear for at least the next few winter seasons and still look just as sharp. Elle says that the design was brought back thanks to Nicolas Ghesquière's fall collection for Louis Vuitton, and that he's successfully turned the look from "schoolgirl" to "cool girl."

There are plenty of options to pair with the skirt, but it looks exceptionally nice with a long-sleeve button-up and tights or leggings—thankfully, otherwise you'd freeze. Spend the money on a quality skirt that will last and you can have fun picking out more contemporary tops to go with it throughout the years. And for those of you feeling particularly daring, Style claims that "Snakeskin Is the New Neutral."

Those Frilly Lacy Things

Less fabric doesn't always equal a sexier look, ladies. It may seem like an unlikely solution, but you can actually use lingerie to keep yourself warmer, allowing you to wear less bulky, more flattering clothes. Body stockings, for example, can give you the support you need and tend to be a much sexier option than Spanx or support hose.

Of course, good-looking lingerie doesn't just make your temperature hotter; it can make you feel better about yourself, too. Adam & Eve drives that point home in noting that just having something sexy on under your clothes can raise your confidence and make you feel more desirable—even if everyone around you in none the wiser. Nothing's sexier than confidence, right?

Boots Made for Walking—And Other Activities Too

Knee-high boots are certainly going to be trendy this season, and if you're up for a splurge I suggest going with a neutral black. However, I can't speak for their style longevity. Ankle boots, on the other hand, are much more versatile, easily paired with pants/jeans, skirts, dresses and anything else you can think of.

Tina Gaudoin, contributing editor for the style section of the Wall Street Journal, suggested a Dicker boot that she referred to as the "Casual Cool Classic" boot for every occasion. A Dicker boot puts a modern spin on the classic cowboy boot, and they're available almost everywhere in different colors and materials. Best of all they're sturdy, so you can look fabulous taking on the winter terrain.

If you're looking at something more trendy, just remember you likely won't get more than a season or two's use out of it. More often than not, pieces that you know are going to be fashionable for years to come are worth splurging on.

Glam Gift Season with Bulova Watches

rose gold bulova watch

It’s that time of year; the organized people are already gift shopping for their friends. I used to look out of the window as a child and see a shimmering Bulova watch billboard during the holidays. It set the standard for sophistication to my 5 year old self. I was re-introduced to the brand at a holiday shopping celebration.

The wearable tech market is being led by smart watches. Many of these are bulky pieces that will give you your heart rate and re-confirm that the phone you have in your other hand got a text message.

A classic watch is now a luxury.  I learned from an industry lecture that watches are the new jewelry gift. By giving a watch crafted like a fine bracelet, it is an indulgence because you are wearing it for the style, not purely for function anymore.

bulova 98L207

The Bulova Facets collection is taking cues from heritage designs and fine jewelry. I was the lucky gift recipient of a rose gold piece with about 100 hand set crystals embedded in the face. While it is contemporary, it also has hints of Gatsby glamour with is mother of pearl face.

To be honest, most of the watches I already own are quirky, minimalist and rarely worn. This piece is the perfect finishing accessory for me for upcoming holiday parties. It has elegance, but it isn’t stuffy. It’s light and water resistant (just in case those parties get too wild). It is definitely one of my favorite gifts this year because it is beautiful, functional, but not a piece that I would have purchased for myself out of necessity. That’s why it was a treat.
Are you ready to be a stylish Santa? Consider the Bulova Facets collection for your deserving loved ones!

This has been a crazy hectic fall season for me! The same goes for my girlfriends who all work in the fashion industry as well. I proposed a ladies night before the holidays in a spa theme featuring Silk’n for a bit of desperately needed relaxation.

To properly execute a spa setting at home for you and girlfriends, the ambiance should be relaxing, open and serene. Get rid of as much clutter as you can (even if it means shoving messy clothes under the bed or in your dishwasher). A bunch of tea lights in glass votives and a soft music mix is perfect for setting the scene.

While everyone can do each other’s nails, why not upgrade the experience by offering your friends serious spa services with professional results? I test drove the Silk’n ReVit on myself. I was always hesitant to try microdermabrasion in the salons, afraid that it would be like sandblasting my face of sensitive skin. The ReVit however, has three textures of diamond microdermabrasion heads with at different abrasion levels to suit your skin sensitivity or if you want to treat your face, hands or neck.

When using it, I slowly moved it around my face as it gives a very gentle vacuum sensation as the heads virbrate to smooth the surface. There is no blasting of debris or flakiness left on your face. It was much gentler than I anticipated. The process also seemed to wake up the circulation of my face to make it look and feel more glowing afterward. I have had long facials at posh spas that did not achieve these results and at home, no appointments are necessary!

Ladies, you know you are exhausted; your friends are wiped out. Spend some quality time together and treat yourself. When you’re ready, use coupon code GIRLSNIGHT at Silk’N before November 20, 2014 for 15% off storewide* excluding Flash&Go, Flash&Go Luxx, Flash&Go Long Life Upgrade Kit, and  Flash&Go Long Lasting Lamp.

How to Hack Your Kitchen Like a Foodie Fashionista

seamlesshacks
New York City.  It is arguably the best city in the world to live in if you love fashion, culture and cuisine.  This fabulousness comes at a price of course.  Most of us live in apartments the size of “closets” to those in other parts of the country.  The savvy New Yorker makes due by hacking their kitchen space to fit all that they love in the jewel box they live in.  I'm working with Seamless to share my best tips.

My smallest apartment was the one I lived in during my sophomore year in college.  It was a studio with no stove, Murphy bed and a flip down counter to act as my desk/dining table/dressing room.  I learned my best space hacks during this time.

Many of you love fashion as much as I do and have the wardrobe collection to match.  Unfortunately, many of you, like me, probably don’t have the real estate to accommodate your treasures properly.  That’s why I’ve compiled some of my most useful space hacks for the kitchen – easily among the most underutilized closet opportunities in any abode.

I hoard clutch handbags, and have found through the years that favorites can be stored and displayed along any narrow strip of wall you can find.  I have this trio right next to the fridge.  I switch up the selection by season.

Have a bit of extra molding?  Run these along any spare bit of wall you have and you can balance your heels against them for a stylish shoe rack.  Old picture frames work for this too!

Do you multi-task your paper goods? Great! Now you can use those extra kitchen accessories to store jewelry.  I use my paper towel rack to hold bangles, necklaces and other trinkets.  This is also handy when you need to take off jewelry to wash the dishes or cook.

No one said your kitchen cupboards have to store kitchen-related items.  I get my inspiration from fashion, art and cookbooks, so why can’t they all be in the same place?

Let’s face it.  How much cooking are you really doing in your kitchen?  New Yorkers live and die by their favorite takeout restaurants.  You know your delivery person by name.  To help you out, Seamless is launching its #TapTapTakeout contest where you could win $500 in Seamless dollars.  That’s five hundred to indulge in your best NYC gourmet cravings (then the money you saved can be used for that next great fashion find). You win multiple times over.  If that’s not savvy city life, you can throw me out of my shoebox.

Seamless. Food as easy as tap tap takeout.

Fall Shopping with Bobbie Thomas

Now that the weather has really cooled down, do you have your fall wardrobe together?  Ms. Fabulous got an exclusive interview with style expert Bobbie Thomas to get tips on shopping for fall fashion.  You may have seen Bobbie on E’s Fashion Police (we miss you Joan!) and the E Network’s Red Carpet reports.  She is also the author of “The Power of Style: Everything You Need to Know Before You Get Dressed Tomorrow.”

Bobbie Thomas is particularly savvy on shopping with a budget. In our video interview below, she shares tips on the one piece you need to invest in for fall.  She also dishes on how to update your existing wardrobe with accessories and what pieces work the best to glam up your outfit from day to soiree.

I checked out Kohl’s fashion offerings over the weekend and there were cozy knits, edgy denim looks and chic prints.  Bobbie Thomas invited readers to make their shopping stretch further with Kohl’s Yes 2 You loyalty program that offers benefits like cash back and birthday surprises:

Miz Mooz Shoes Loves New York

I couldn’t dream of a better New York night than one spent with the team of Miz Mooz shoes this past week.  It was a warm, early evening where a bunch of my fellow bloggers and I stretched our way through an invigorating yoga class.  We were absolutely spoiled with the backdrop of the sun setting on the Manhattan skyline.

That’s the sentiment I have with Miz Mooz shoes.  They are a homegrown New York brand that is like the savvy girlfriend that first welcomed you to Gotham and took you shopping.  Miz Mooz is where many ladies got outfitted to begin their sophisticated fashion girl life and the telltale bright orange bag.  Their shoes have that distinct vintage styling and quirky details that you recognize on the streets Downtown.  They are built to be comfortable and sturdy because New Yorkers walk everywhere.

Miz Mooz had their fall styles up for a tryout during the yoga session.  There were many boot options, from short booties to knee high lengths. I love the retro closures of the buttons along the side on styles like the Normandy and Denise.  I used to see styles like this in movies, vowing to buy them when I became a grown-up.  The “Flirt” bootie had a curved, wrapped zipper detail.   They were all made from hand-finished leather.  There were of course the basic dark black, brown and grey colors that every New Yorker owns.  If you want to branch out, they also offer rich bright reds and blues online to add that pop accent to your outfit.

grey vintage shoesMy favorite shoe for fall has to be the Kimmy, with its T-strap and curved heel.  T-straps always remind me of ballroom dance, the curved heels give me support without looking clunky.  The heart-shaped detail at the front and they are offered in grey or black just works with my wardrobe.

Like every Gotham girl, she longs to travel after she conquers the city.  Miz Mooz shoes are now available all over the country and online.  I like knowing that wherever I end up, I can always have my New York city favorites right next to me.
