Gee Beauty Lounge
I am so appreciative when an enterprising company takes the time out to treat fashion editors to something relaxing in between the heat and chaos of Miami Fashion Week swimwear shows. The Gee Beauty in Bal Harbor hosted a little breakfast at the Penthouse of the Soho Beach House to refresh humidity ravaged folk.
The morning started out with a calming facial sitting in front of windows overlooking the beach. It doesn't get any better than that. The real treat though, is watching Gee Beauty founder Miriam Gee go to work doing my makeup. I truly felt like a canvas to an artist as she worked on my makeup (check out the results above).
It turns out, Miriam is my hometown buddy from Toronto. She started off as a make-up artist to top shows in Canada before taking the reins as beauty editor at publications like Flare Magazine and Toronto Life Fashion. Her dream was always to open her own beauty studio and made it happen in the posh neighborhood of Rosedale in Toronto. The luxe Bal Harbor shops in Miami soon recognized her work and invited her to open a studio in Florida.
If you are fortunate enough to have Miriam work on you during your services, you will find that she takes her time and is a perfectionist. She analyzes your face with the precision of a surgeon and enhances your best features. She is very attentive to your needs, making sure you are hydrated, comfortable and look the most gorgeous you can imagine. I asked her what her top tip for pulling together a great look. She advises that your eyebrows are the key feature to presenting a great face. Her specialty is sculpting brows to brighten up and emphasize your eyes.
I'm just happy to find a beauty guru up north and south whenever I need her!
