Jakarta, Indonesia is not the fashion capital that its neighbor Tokyo is yet, but it is catching up fast. The most recent edition of Jakarta Fashion Week hosted over 60 fashion shows and brought together fashion industry professionals from across many fields.
Designer Hengky Kawilarang showed a bright rainbow of colors in flirty dresses. The dresses were embellished with rich embroidery and beading.
Designer Lie Sang Bong showed a playful runway of graphic black, white and tomato red. Bold houndstooth was displayed in different scales. The silhouettes were an updated nod to retro shapes along with playful butterflies as accessories.
Designer Soko Wijanto created elaborate fabric sculptures for the L'Oreal runway showcase. Ruffles were taken to the nth degree that looked soft or constructed. Hard edged metal belts or corset like waist cinches acted as the top accessory for this collection.
