Neon Pop L.A.M.B. from Gwen Stefani Fall 2012

gwen stefani fall 2012
Pop art and music go hand in hand. Pop icon Gwen Stefani merged the two into a bright, fresh update on 1980's style references along with 1960's sweater girls.

The Fall 2012 collection for L.A.M.B. Had a vivid palette of black, white, yellow and neon colors. Soft shoulder graphic t-shirts mixed with tailored suits in oversized neon houndstooth prints.  Big pop graphics and retro glen plaids mixed with short skirts and cigarette pants.

Handbags ranged from simple clutches with the houndstooth motif, to extra large patent neon or glossy black carryalls.  The hair was swept up in one of the season's most popular up-dos.  The semi-beehive with long hair at the back.

NY Fashion Week: LAMB Spring 2012 by Gwen Stefani

Are YOU just a girl?  If so, you had plenty of fun, casual options for Spring 2012.  The Gwen Stefani helmed collection showed quietly in the small 'box' studio of Lincoln Center without the designer.  In previous seasons, her shows were big, celebrity-filled paparazzi-bait.

The clothing did not show a distinct theme, and you didn't really see the pop star's distinct personality in this collection as you would from the previous seasons.  What you did see were bright colors is solid separates or variations on stripes and zig zags of primary colors.  Other separates included neutrals in 1980's styling.

I was much more impressed with the handbag selection at this show.  Several bags had a sunburst-like seaming and braided handle.  Another series had cut strips of leather as a variation to fringe which was clever.

The models were styled with simple informal ponytails, dark eyeliner and neutral lips.  I thought they would at least style them with Stefani's signature red lipstick.  Again, this show just didn't feel like it had Ms. Gwen's stamp on it, so it ended up as one of the blur of collections this season.

Fashion Designer Couture Ornaments

Are you ready for a Red Carpet Holiday Tree?  Want your pine boughs trimmed with ornaments personally designed by the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Sean Jean, Gwen Stefani, Naeem Khan, Carlos Falchi or Jonathan Adler?
You can get festive and have the most fashion-forward decor of the neighborhood with the Home Shopping Network's  HeART HSN Designer Ornament collection.

100% of the profits in this collection will be donated to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.  St. Jude's is a pioneering research hospital devoted to finding cures for pediatric cancer and childhood diseases.

The Home Shopping Network launched this collection with an intimate soirĂ©e at their showroom last week. St. Jude chair Marlo Thomas hosted the event while ornament designers like model Iman and Naeem Khan attended in support.

Swarovski is a participant and the famed crystals are featured prominently in many of the ornaments.  The price range for the pieces range from below $20 to $40 for most of the collection.  You can also splurge up to $299 or a jewel-encrusted Naeem Khan piece. The collection goes on sale October 20, 2010 through HSN and will be available through the holiday season.

NY Fashion Week: L.A.M.B. Spring 2011 by Gwen Stefani

Hey Baby, hey baby hey!  Gwen Stefani's Spring 2011 was a cheerful collection of African prints, breezy island silhouettes and animal patterns. Ruffles were a regular detail, as were asymmetrical shoulders. There were menswear-inspired jackets and pants in contrast to the lighter sun dresses.

This was one of the few shows that really felt like a party/night out.  It definitely had my favorite music selections of NY Fashion Week...Depeche Mode, Marilyn Manson, No Doubt.

The accessories include a range of fedora styled hats.  Noir Jewelry (another of my favorites) was tasked with creating ethnic-inspired pieces for the show.  A tribal necklace and over-sized cuffs were seen.  The L.A.M.B. handbags were roomy, big purses with animal prints.

NY Fashion Week: L.A.M.B. Fall 2010

All right, I admit I am a wuss for whining about being soaked and freezing Wednesday when I went to pick up my Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week credentialsGwen Stefani had a much tougher time with the NYC blizzard…Half of her collection got stuck in transit. The show must go on, and a fabulous collection it was. Military, punks and pin-ups ruled the runway with some Betty Paige muses thrown in. Longer jackets could be curvy or army. Pants ranged from edgy leather leggings, slouchy utility or cigarette trousers.

The handbags did not have as distinct a vintage influence. For the most part, they were big, slouchy and relaxed.
