#NYFW: Tia Cibani Fall 2014 - Morocco!

Global chic is a way of life for Tia Cibani.  The designer has lived and worked in North Africa, China, Canada and New York in her work with Ports 1961 and now her own namesake label.  She presented her Fall 2014 collection in an oasis away from the city chaos yesterday.

Guests were welcomed into the Prince George Ballroom with hot mint tea in gold painted glasses and rose water sweets.  The runway consisted of a mix of exotic carpets. Long, easy silken silhouettes flowed down the catwalk, taking cues from traditional djellabas, harem pants and full skirts.  The North African inspiration was obvious, but not taken literally.  The rich satins and brocades were mixed with ornate metallics.  Swing shapes in blouses and tunics looked elegant and comfortable.

I loved that the Tia Cibani collection had a casual feel, but completely upgraded into luxury execution.  It's perfect for the jet-setting socialite that swans out of bed and into a 5-star restaurant at a drop of a fez.
